Programs Overview

For over 30 years, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Providence and East Bay has built homes and fulfilled dreams in partnership with hardworking individuals and families. Habitat builds and improves homes in partnership with people in need of decent, affordable housing in the Greater Providence area.

Our program eligibility requirements for our Homeownership Program and Home Improvement Program are based on the same core tenets.

Need for housing services

We partner with individuals and families who show a demonstrated need for our housing services. This may have to do with the condition of a home, or simply that rent or home improvements are too expensive.

Willingness to Partner

Families partner with Habitat through “sweat equity” hours, working alongside Habitat staff and volunteers on construction and improve sites or at our ReStore.

Ability to Pay

Our Homeownership Program works with families who earn between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income (AMI) to ensure they can afford our thirty-year, affordable mortgage. For home improvements, loans are offered on a sliding scale based on income to keep improvements affordable.
