For over 30 years, Habitat of Greater Providence has built homes and fulfilled dreams in partnership with hardworking individuals and families. Habitat builds and repairs homes in partnership with people in need of decent, affordable housing in the Greater Providence area.
Our program eligibility requirements for our Homeownership Program and Home Repair Program are based on the same core tenets.
Need for housing services
We partner with individuals and families who show a demonstrated need for our housing services. This may have to do with the condition of a home, or simply that rent or home repairs are too expensive.
Willingness to Partner
Families partner with Habitat through “sweat equity” hours, working alongside Habitat staff and volunteers on construction and repair sites or at our ReStore.
Ability to Pay
Our Homeownership Program works with families who earn between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income (AMI) to ensure they can afford our thirty-year, affordable mortgage. For home repairs, loans are offered on a sliding scale based on income to keep repairs affordable.
